Minutes for Wed, July 6, 2016 Block Meeting

• ​Meeting opened with a word of prayer
  
• Ms. Saxon informed group of Con Edison energy-efficient discount program for new appliances.  Con Edison also has a program that helps residents change heating from oil to gas.  Call 1 877 870-6118 for more detail.
  
• Ms. Saxon informed the group of International Friendship Day on August 7, 2016.  See link for more details. 
  
• ​Ms. Saxon recapped visit from health center from last months block meeting and reminded group that the health center will be holding their annual event on the block one week after our block party (Saturday, September 17).
  
• Ms. Saxon informed group of upcoming Block Party scheduled for Saturday, September 10.
  
• Group discussed various suggestions for the block party;
  
  • Bouncy House for the kids
    
  • Mr. Clayton will secure the horses
    
  • Ella will secure the fire trucks
    
  • Will ask Simone to do face painting for the kids
    
  • Kids Dance Contest
    
  • Kids Race
    
  • Kids Sack Racing
    
  • Kids Hula Hoop Contest
•  Group discussed Volunteers for Block Party.  Following was discussed;
  
  • Lauren will provide food station and prizes for the kids on the Troop-end
    
  • Mr. Clayton will secure the horses
    
  • Asa will help with setup and breakdown, and providing kids food
    
  • Ray will help with setup
    
  • Sophie will be on point for DJ, providing prizes, will assist with races
    
  • Shaniqua will provide food, drink boxes, prizes for the kids
    
  • Hannah will help with setup/breakdown
