****Block Party Update - September 18, 2021****

Hi Residents!! 3 days left until our block party.  Please read below.  Looking for volunteers to help out the day of.  We will need to clean the streets and set up tables and chairs.  Please review below and let me know how you can help!  Send us a note in the group.me app or email us at [email protected].

ALL HANDS ON DECK!!!

Saturday Morning starting at 9am:

• Start cleaning the streets of debris and asking people to start moving their cars
• We will need help cleaning the street/sidewalk the morning of the event

 
Some items to consider;

• 1-2 tables for the party favors to rest on
• Plastic fold out chairs for people to sit on and give out the party favors.
• The precinct supplied 50 spiral notebooks and small hand sanitizer bottles to give out.

 
Food/Drink needed

• 4-5 24-packs of small 8 oz. water - needed
• 2-3 40 count variety pack of chips- needed
• It will be 84 degrees that day so I’ll track down the icy lady and let her know of our event. She is usually by ps 44 when school lets out.
• Any other snack/drink items that are sealed (unopened) are welcome

 
Games/Toys that will be available for the kids

• 2 ladder toss sets placed on both ends of the block
• 2 cornhole sets placed on both ends of the block
• 2 ring toss sets placed on both ends of the block
• 2 large sets of sidewalk chalk
• Hula-hoops
• Double dutch jump rope
• Bouncy House
• Music from 2pm-7pm
• Any other game suggestions welcome!!!

Block Meeting Minutes - Tuesday, August 8, 2017

-The meeting opened up with a presentation from Kirk & Shawanna McDonald; owners of the soon to be opened 'The Southern Comfort' restaurant on Marcus Garvery Blvd. (across from Everyday Coffee).  They asked the group for a letter of support and also brought a tasting sample for the members.  They are aiming for Nov/Dec 2017. 

-Block residents now have an easy way to pay their annual household dues of $25.  You can now pay online on the website.

Annual Block Party Update
-Ray informed the group that Mr. Clayton has put us down on the waiting list to provide the horses.  The current cost is $225 and we are seeking discount.
-Ella has indicated the firetrucks will be available.
-Neil is currently speaking with Idris who will provide the bouncy house.  Currently negotiating the cost.
-Asa indicated he would provide ice pops for the kids
-Sophie is currently negotiating the price for the DJ Equipment.
-Group agreed 'Project Clean sweep' should take place 1-2 nights before the event.
-No Parking Signs will be posted on the street the week before the block party (Saturday, September 9)
-Outstanding issues are the kids games.  If there are any volunteers please see the questionnaire below.
